Rhyme Time

If you’re looking for a way to entertain your little one, the Brisbane City Council hosts various Rhyme Time sessions at local libraries. It’s a fantastic option if you’re seeking something free, easy, and local to fill your day—perfect to have in your back pocket while on parental leave or having a day off work. When life admin starts to pile up, it’s easy to forget about this delightful activity. During my parental leave, I found it helpful to make a recurring note in my phone’s calendar of my local libraries’ Rhyme Time schedules, which are generally consistent unless there’s a public holiday.
So far, I’ve tested out sessions at New Farm, Carindale, Bulimba, and Carina. I found the New Farm and Carindale libraries can get quite crowded. My personal favourite is Carina Library; it has a quaint atmosphere, easy parking and nearby parks. On the other hand, Bulimba wasn’t as enjoyable for me—it felt a bit dark. For your local sessions, refer to the Brisbane Council website, but be sure to check whether they’re tailored for babies or toddlers. I made the rookie mistake of attending a baby session with my energetic toddler once, and it was a massive waste of time!
Happy Rhyming! 😊
