Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, Fig Tree Pocket

I first heard about Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary many moons ago from former industry colleagues, long before I became a parent. I kept this suggestion in my back pocket for a sunny family outing, and it certainly lived up to expectations! The sanctuary is home to numerous koalas and a wonderful variety of other animals to appreciate. For anyone visiting for the first time, my top tip is to buy an annual pass! The price difference is minimal, and it allows for easy returns—especially handy when the grandparents come to visit! They also offer nocturnal night tours, which sound like a fantastic experience for families with older kids.

One of the highlights of our visit was the opportunity to feed the animals, with our favourite being the brightly coloured rosellas. There are two gift shops on-site, and I particularly enjoyed the one inside, which features café offerings for food and beverages.

In true koala spirit, we couldn’t resist buying a beautifully soft koala hand puppet. My son adores it; it’s so cuddly that every night “La la” chats with him about his day!

We’re excited to circle back after exploring other animal-themed experiences, and we’ll make sure to take more photos of the on-site amenities next time!
