I can’t tell you how many times I’ve casually visited the Colmslie Aquatic Centre without taking the time to appreciate how wonderful the kids’ splash facility is. I subconsciously knew it was there, but it wasn’t until a steaming hot summer day forced us out of the warm indoor pool and into the outdoor area that I truly noticed it. This feature seems to go under the radar for many people, particularly since the pool isn’t heated.

As you walk into the gated kids’ pool, you can push a button to activate the water pumps, which is very cool! The water playground structure is quite similar to the one found at Runcorn Pool. The canteen is limited with no hot food, but there is plenty of parking onsite, which makes up for it! Just be mindful that if you’re planning to visit on a weekend, the fenced splash pool area might be buzzing with hosted parties and too full for comfort. This is a clever idea if the time of year is right and you’re lucky enough to be the only party for the day. Colmslie Aquatic Centre remains our indoor casual swim pool of choice, and it will no doubt see our family again soon!
