Sandgate Aquatic Centre, Sandgate

This pool scoping trip to Sandgate Aquatic Centre was a pleasant surprise. From my research online, I knew it would be interesting, but I can safely say it was better than I expected. The pool was expansive, with so many great areas to stop and engage with. There’s plenty of poolside seating, and at the time of my visit, you could order hot food from the onsite café via a QR code. When I saw the A-frame advertising for this, I felt like a fire-head emoji with excitement!

It was a bit of a drive for us, but it was worth it, and it is now one of my favourites. A few people have asked me to rank Brisbane’s best pools in order; however, answering that question is tricky. Now that I’ve seen all the various options nearby in Brisbane, I choose where to go based on a few factors, such as distance, what vibe I’m in the mood for, and the most important factor: how much time I have left in my child’s wake window (we are still in the napping stage). It would be an excellent place for some quality weekend family time and I can’t wait to take my husband to this one. Once my child drops his nap altogether, I will be hitting this one up and “making a day of it” more regularly!
